Blog Post #5

Going into the last few days it looks like the project will be completed. I have completed my entire business plan and now have posted it on a website.

The final week took a lot of effort. I had to conclude my research and it took a lot of effort to finalize and tie everything together. The final process, writing my conclusion really showed me the steps and the hoops that had to be jumped.

The most significant subject topics that I had to complete were Goals, Educational Opportunities, and then wrote a conclusion, summing up my main points.

The two main goals I had focused on were:

Reach 1 million fans: This will signify prosperity and an active fan base. It will be something for the organization to shoot for.

Accrue a TV network: A television network will be a hefty goal to shoot for. Most professional organizations including the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, and then some of the bigger NCAA conferences such as the Big Ten, SEC, and now the ACC. It would be a great opportunity to maximize revenue.

Educational Opportunities:

Athletes may be reluctant to abandon their education that they would’ve received from the NCAA. A concept that could be introduced is a mutual partnership, in which an online university would form an official partnership with the league and in exchange for allowing athletes free tuition to their program they would receive publicity form sponsoring the league.

After completing these tasks I felt like I was finally prepared to start putting it on a website that would link entrepreneurs with investors. After several browsing, the site I chose was gust.com. The site has proven to be very user compatible and has provided a well-organized template in which I can present information. There other aspect I worked on was a Pitch Desk, which was just a short PowerPoint presentation illustrating the mains points. When the site is published I will post the URL on the blog. The site will be complete with a Pitch Desk, a word document of a business plan, hopefully a video of me explaining parts of the business, and then slight blurbs describing main points such as target market, sales strategy and competitive advantage. One of the things that made these blurbs difficult is that the site only allotted 450 characters, which is really only like 4 or 5 sentences. It really made me consider what was important and what was necessary for investors to know and understand.

I also started constructing my script for the presentation the Wednesday. One of the primary themes I plan to focus on is how a big picture is constructed of small details. There were so many little things that go into a business that I had never considered when only looking at the big picture. I will go into the entire process more in my reflection blog.

Until Next Time:

I will probably drop another blog post sometime in the next few days, when the project is fully published and visible by the public. Feel free to comment and critique on what you thought I could have added.
